SIMMENTAL NZ BEEF CLASS STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENT

Glen Anthony Stud has adopted the Beef Class Structural Assessment system
promoted by Simmental NZ for use across the entire Simmental breed. This
system replaces the Quality Assurance Programme which centred on a stock
audit carried out by the breed society appointed classifiers. Under the Beef Class
system, it is the responsibility of individual stud breeders to assess their own
stock for structural soundness docility.

HOW TO USE THE BEEF CLASS STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

The major structural trait scores for each bull are outlined in this catalogue.

  • A score of 5 is ideal.
  • A score of 4 or 6 shows some variation from ideal - but acceptable.
  • A score of 3 or 7 shows more variation yet acceptable in commercial herds.
  • Bulls with scores lower than 3 or higher than 7 are not included here

For docility - 1 is Ideal (docile), 3 is less ideal (restless) and 5 is aggressive (Scores of 1 and 2 are preferred).

Please Note: Structural scores are not a GUARANTEE. They should be used as a guide only.
